My name is Tom Hutchinson and I am the Co-Owner and CEO of Hitz Cannabis.
When I was 15, my world was turned upside down with a diagnosis I never saw coming – Crohn's disease. The constant battle with my own body forced me to make a tough decision: dropping out of school and sports. Desperate for relief from the pain and discomfort, I turned to an unconventional solution – marijuana. Little did I know that this choice would set me on a path I could have never imagined.
As I delved deeper into the world of marijuana, my hunger for knowledge grew insatiable. Books, websites, and connections with like-minded individuals became my sources of education. By the time I hit 16, I found myself in an entirely different realm – drug dealing. From 16 to 21, I navigated the treacherous waters of the underground trade, forming alliances and learning business on the streets. By 21 I achieved full remission from Chron’s thanks to RSO.
Yet, just as cannabis boosted my health, it posed challenges in my personal life. In 2011 when I was 21, a close friend turned informant, did multiple controlled buys off me leading to a raid on my operations by Westnet. Six months of house arrest, all my equipment broken and taken by the authorities, and $20,000 in fines at a young age gave me ample time to reflect on my choices and the path I had taken.
Confined within those walls, I decided to redirect my life's course. Underground connections and music always went hand in hand, and now was the time to pursue it fully. I immersed myself in the world of hip-hop, learning about the industry inside and out. Through chance and determination, I forged connections with established artists like Coolio, Treach from Naughty by Nature, and Rappin 4 Tay. These relationships taught me not only about music, but also about marketing, leadership, and the power of authentic human bonds.
As my 27th birthday approached, destiny took another turn. I rekindled my connection with my childhood best friend, Nater Youngchild, who had undergone his own transformation during our time apart and became a successful LEGAL entrepreneur. Together, we harnessed our experiences into a positive endeavor, consulting for marijuana companies became our game, blending my industry knowledge with Nater's newfound insights and operational acumen.
Our partnership flourished, leading us to a momentous decision. With hard-earned savings and a wealth of experience, Nater and I realized a shared dream – purchasing our very own marijuana farm. It wasn't just a business; it encapsulated our respective journeys, struggles, and growth. Nater sold his house and gave us his life savings and we bought Rainier Organics, and began the transition into our brand, Hitz Cannabis: Natural Plants, Original Music, Ordinary People.
From a teenage diagnosis that altered my trajectory, to a tumultuous phase of drug dealing, to discovering redemption through music and profound relationships, I had carved a unique narrative for myself. Life's unanticipated detours had guided me to this remarkable destination – a place where unexpected paths yield extraordinary outcomes. Hitz Cannabis is more than a company, it is my dream, my destiny and my greatest offering to the world. I am humbled and honored to share it with all of you.
We harvest over 3,000 pounds a year at our farm in the South Puget Sound near Olympia, and purchase another +10,000 pounds from our partner farms on the East Side of the State. We focus on growing and producing Organic Cannabis Oil Products, grown in Organic Soil. Everything we grow and source is turned into RSO and also further refined into Distillate for our Vape Pens. We only make oil from flowers grown without pesticides and synthetic nutrients. Our farmers are only allowed to use water and actively aerated compost tea to feed the plants. Our teas are brewed with Worm Castings along with Fermented Fruit Juice made from Apples grown on our farm in Yelm, Washington.
